Small Tortoiseshells at Ferring Rife

Small Tortoiseshell, Aglais urticae
Today I met Mark at Ferring Rife for a spot of Small Tortoiseshell photography. We estimated we saw about 25 on the east and west banks during a 3 hour period. A Peacock chased a Small Tort, and a Small Tort chased a bumblebee. We checked out the pools and I saw a two juvenile newts, some tadpoles and a few pieces of frog spawn. Afterwards we called at Angmering Woods and heard Chiff Chaffs and saw two Roe Deer.
