Brimstone Moth, Opisthograptis luteolata |
On Thursday Philip & Seppi arrived from Bavaria after an interesting and long drive. They rested up on Friday and we wandered along the beach front to the pier then ended up at the very agreeable Tap & Barrel, incorporating the Littlehampton Brewery. Excellent beers and ambience, including a choice of 4 non-alcoholic beers for Seppi. Highly recommended.
I found several new moth species among the nine by the outside lights: Double-Striped Pug, Elbow-stripe Grass-veneer, Flounced Rustic, Light Brown Apple Moth, Marbled Green, Rush Veneer, Rusty Dot Pearl, Square-Spot Rustic, Willow Beauty.
On arriving back from dinner at Jackie's on Saturday we found a beautiful Brimstone Moth in the hallway.
My Mill Hill transect on Sunday morning yielded the following: Clouded Yellow, Small White 2, Common Blue 5,
Chalk Hill Blue 1, Adonis Blue 49, Red Admiral 2, Meadow Brown 43, Small Heath
8, moths: Common Carpet, Straw-barred Pearl.
Today (Monday), we saw three yachts out to sea, an uncommon sight. Last night the usual moths crowed round the balcony light plus a new one called The Clay.
