Pulborough Brooks fungi trail

Fly Agaric, Amanita muscaria
On Tuesday 4th November I met Mark Colvin at Pulborough Brooks and we enjoyed a walk around the reserve. I was delighted when Mark spotted a Fly Agaric, the first one in good condition that I have seen since Scotland in 1984. We then discovered the fungi trail that the RSPB staff had laid in the woodland area outside the main reserve. This was excellent as they have put identification signs by many of the common fungi. I returned the following day and found more fungi.
On Wednesday I joined Murray Downland Trust members and BC Sussex member Gary on the weekly Heyshott work party where we cleared and burnt scrub. The benefit was highlighted at Saturday's Butterfly Conservation national AGM where the success of this work for the Duke of Burgundy was highlighted. Afterwards I called in at Pulborough Brooks again to find more fungi.
