Mystery at Cissbury

On Tuesday we enjoyed a wander round Cissbury Ring. Not a butterfly was sighted on this misty and mysterious afternoon. Plenty of fungi, especially Parasol mushrooms.

promising start to the day

Ragwort
Kestrel
Western Conifer Seed Bug, Leptoglossus occidentalis

This bug was on our window. Thanks to Mark Colvin for the id. It was first reported in the UK in 2007. It arrived in Italy in 1999 from its native North America where is does considerable damage to conifer seed nurseries. It then spread rapidly west and over the channel.

This great video was made by Anthony Murdoch during our trip. Anthony has been on our annual Maldives trip many times. I particularly like the Napoleon Wrasse sequence at 14:37, and of course me in photo mode during a night dive at 11:50.

Saturday 12 November

I have been asked for some photos of Bandos to give an idea of the ambience of the place so here are a few I took this trip.

Bandos web site: http://www.bandosmaldives.com/

I like the BA flight from London, Gatwick to Male (Maldives). It flies out on Wednesdays and Fridays, returns the following day and takes 11 hours.
