Sheffield and Derbyshire

Burbage Brook
Yesterday we visited the Graves Gallery to see the "The Great Outdoors - Paintings by Stanley Royle":  from the website: "Stanley Royle was one of the most popular Sheffield painters of the 20th century. This major retrospective exhibition, the first in almost 30 years, showcases Sheffield’s magnificent collection of his paintings, the largest in the country." A wonderful exhibition which is open until 30 May. One of his paintings is in the Millennium Gallery exhibition "Picturing Sheffield" which we visited afterwards. Another excellent exhibition, particularly as an artist Jonathan Wilkinson has featured the Town Hall extension, known as The Egg Box. This was designed by Sue's father, Jan Kot, before he became City Architect.
This morning I visited the Longshaw Estate and did my favourite walk to Mam Tor, then down through the woods to Burbage Brook which was in full flood with the meltwater. I also photographed the flock of Long-tailed Tits in the garden.
