A Heron, Ratty and butterfly business

Grey Heron, Ardea cinerea landing

On Friday a visit to Arundel WWT concentrated on a grey Heron and a Water Vole. A Little Grebe flew in again.
Saturday afternoon was our Sussex Butterfly Conservation AGM at the ad Astra Hall, Hassocks. Chairman  Nigel Symington swiftly dealt with AGM business, then we had three excellent talks: Michael Blencowe on “the Butterfly Year in Sussex”, Chris Corrigan on “The Checkered Skipper” and Dan Danahar on “The Butterflies of Ghana”.
There were also very good exhibits by Jamie Buston, Wildlife and portrait artist and BC member
and Pete Eeles, Gary & Lisa Richardson of UK Butterflies of BC Hampshire who run the excellent website www.ukbutterflies.co.uk
