Yesterday we left Sheffield and headed for Derby to visit Alex and Nadine in their new home near Darley Abbey Mill. It is one of those lovely spacious 40s houses. It has original tiles round the fire place which I remember from the house I grew up in. The essential building work has been done and the back looks out over the River Derwent. It will be a wonderful family home when they have finished the interior. Nadine's Mum and Gran were also visiting. Her family come from South Harrow which near my home territory of Eastcote so we had a good natter about places we knew. After an excellent lunch which included Cumberland sausage, beef and strawberries from their local organic shop, we left at 2:30. By chance The sat-nav took us to Darley Abbey Mill just round the corner so we wandered around admiring the views for a while. We arrived back at Littlehampton at 7pm after an uneventful journey. We called in at the services where the A34 crosses the M4. The price of diesel there was a rip-off £1.49/litre, so we left and called in at the next one on the A34 where it was £1.40.
