Littlehampton Bonfire night

On Saturday the weather stayed dry for the Littlehampton Bonfire Society's big night. Tom & Jill and Linda & Nick joined us to enjoy the festivities from the balcony. The parade had plenty of Sussex Bonfire Societies participating plus local clubs, emergency services and traction engine enthusiasts. The bonfire was huge and hit and the firework display was brilliant with a wonderful finale.

Peacehaven Fossils

On Saturday morning I attended a fossil hunting event on the Peacehaven beach, below the cliffs. It was run by Roy Shepherd of Discovering Fossils and he showed us the types of fossils found in the chalk layers along the Sussex coast. We then had a go at finding our own specimens. Mine were basic shells of bivalve molluscs, but one kid found an amazing sea urchin and another found a superb sponge. I plan to attend the next one at Beachy Head where the best fossils are found.

The Bonfire is growing by the day for Saturday's celebrations by the Littlehampton Bonfire Society

 

Last night Jackie joined us to see Giselle at the Windmill Theatre.

This was a very enjoyable production by Independant Ballet Wales and well done given the tiny stage.
