We have attended two excellent conferences recently. Firstly, the Sussex Ornithological Society’s conference was held at Haywards Heath on January 31^st.  Then on February 7^th the Sussex Biological Recorders Seminar was held at Hassocks. Both had great speakers on a variety of interesting subjects and we thoroughly enjoyed them.

 On Tuesday I participated in a Sussex Search and Rescue call-out near Pease Pottage which resulted in finding the remains of a local man who went missing last May: http://bit.ly/1Ee300j

I saw my first butterfly of the year, a Red Admiral which landed on bracken by the roadside.

 On Thursday I joined Murray Downland Trust members John, Mike and Andy at Heyshott escarpment for another conservation work party.

 The rain kept me indoors on Wednesday and today ☹
