Silver-washed Fritillaries emerge at Southwater

Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea
On Saturday I checked out Southwater Woods and saw two Silver-washed Fritillaries whizzing along the main path plus a Ringlet, Meadow Browns, a Large Skipper  and over 50 Speckled Woods. Moths seen included a Common White Wave and an unidentified micro-moth. I watched some amazing Speckled Wood dogfights along the path.
In the afternoon we watched Andy Murray play the game of his life to defeat world number one, Novak Djokovic by the amazing score of 3-0. Coach Ivan Lendl was seen to do his version of a public smile for the first time in the tournament. A brilliant combo.
