White Admirals and Silver-washed Fritillaries

Silver-washed Fritillary male, Argynnis paphia
On 26th I visited Rewell Wood and found 4 moths: Yellow-barred Longhorn, Small Magpie, Black-tipped Ermine and the usual Common Marbles, plus a comb-footed spider.
On 28th I decided to try for White Admirals at Southwater Woods. There were many butterflies, and flowering brambles were the best places to find them at rest. Initially I saw lots of Silver-washed Fritillaries dashing around and nectaring and many Commas. The Commas were being aggressive towards other butterflies daring to come into their space. Plenty of Meadow Browns, Ringlets, Large and Small Skippers and Marbled Whites. Just before I returned to the car I spotted 2 White Admirals on one bramble flower head - mission accomplished! Sadly no Purple Emperors seen, I'll have to visit nearby Knepp estate for a chance of those.
