Hooded Merganser at Pagham Harbour

Hooded Merganser, female, Lophodytes cucullatus
I visited Pagham Harbour this morning where I met Mark and a few other enthusiasts at the Church Lane end to see the female Hooded Merganser which has been around since November 6. It is believed to be a genuine immigrant from North America as it has no ring and this species is regularly seen at this time of the year.

It spent a lot of time underwater!
