After the athletics finished on Saturday I sprinted to Kithurst Hill as the weather was good. I was rewarded by my first Painted Lady of the year which was nectaring on a patch of Hemp-agrimony by the hollow next to the gate. Three Red admirals were also fuelling at this popular station. They all stayed around for the 90 minutes I was there. The meadow was as lovely as ever in its rich carpet of flowers and Small Whites were courting and mating.
