Heyshott work party and Kingfishers

Kingfisher, Alcedo atthis
On Wednesday I joined Mark and members of the Murray Downland Trust at Heyshott escarpment for the first conservation work party of the winter season.

On most days from Monday till today I have visited Arundel WWT and enjoyed seeing the kingfishers from the Sand Martin hide. They hovered above the lake and dived in, sometimes coming out with a fish. They have also zoomed back and forth across the lake and in front of the hide from left to right and right to left. Today one banked over the hide. On Tuesday Sue Lawford, a friend from expat days, joined us at Arundel for lunch.
