Tour with the Dukes

Duke of Burgundy, Hamearis lucina
On Wednesday I joined Butterfly Conservation members on a tour led by Neil Hulme with Martin Warren, BC Chief Executive, Dan Hoare, BC South East Regional Officer, Michael Blencowe, Bob Foreman and research student Ali. We started at Heyshott Escarpment where 103 Duke of Burgundies were counted on part of the site. The group went to Rewell Wood and then joined me at Kithurst Meadow where we counted 7 Dukes and some Small Blues. We finished at Chantry Hill where we saw many Green Hairstreaks, Brown Argus and Small Coppers.
