Blue Bottle Fly, Calliphora vomitoria |
Yesterday I visited Rewell Wood, then met Mark at Kithurst
Meadow and we went on to Pulborough Brooks for lunch. I wandered around the RSPB
reserve, then returned to Kithurst Meadow and Rewell Wood. It was mostly cloudy
with brief periods of sun. The only butterflies seen were a Dingy Skipper and a Peacock at
Kithurst. I heard and then saw Firecrests and Goldcrests at Rewell Wood. A
Great Spotted Woodpecker appeared near Wigginholt
Church. This tiny ancient church by Pulborough Brooks has a small churchyard which
is allowed to flower and seed before mowing.
