On Thursday I did my Mill Hill butterfly transect: Green Hairstreaks, Dingy & Grizzled Skippers, Brimstones, Peacocks plus a Green Carpet Moth, Wavy-barred Sable and Violet Sable micro moths. There were also two adders basking at the bottom of the hill. 

I then visited Rewell Wood and endured a shower of tiny hailstones. The upside was plenty of micro moths: Hemp-agrimony Plumes, Small Purple and Gold, Small White Wave, Vetch Piercer and male and female Green Longhorns on Wood Spurge. I heard my first Cuckoo of the year.

On Wednesday afternoon I visited Arundel WWT and enjoyed watching the Canada and Greylag goslings wandering around with their parents. From the Arun Riverlife hide I watched two Herring Gulls search for Mallard ducklings. Mrs Mallard told them where to go.
