| Southern Hawker, Aeshna cyanea |
Yesterday I met Linda at RSPB Pulborough Brooks to see a Black-winged
Stilt. RSPB volunteers with a scope offered a view of the distant bird when it occasionally became visible. Five Avocets were more visible
although equally distant. I was surprised by the absence of dragonflies and damselfies
on a pond by the visitor centre. I saw a
Southern Hawkers inside the reserve and there were many Red Darters at the dried out
pond by the path on the heathland. Three handsome Highland Cattle grazed by the
pond.
